Peripheral language--
Looking straight ahead,
Veering down the road,
Brake lights blink, twitch:

Seamless translucent background;
Increase speed decrease;
Darting from lane, two lanes.

Flat on paper, dimensional blur,
Leafless tree branches, lineation,
One-stroke calligraphic swerves,
Brushed bark, abstract mind's eye,
Short-term memory ingrained
Subconsciously.

Jumping off the page,
Falling from the sky,
Astonishment oncoming--
Head-on collision.
