Coffee Demi-sized
Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 8:15:10 AM

My B&B host tapped on my door and presented me with a tray on which stood a ceramic carafe of coffee wrapped in a rainbow-colored, felt jacket.

Included on the tray was one demitasse, a mini-pitcher of cream, packets of sweetener in a container of similar size.

A vase with wild flowers.

Coffee Demi-sizedWe confirmed that breakfast is at 8:30AM.

A good morning breeze startled my bare feet. I noticed that my host was wearing a down jacket.

I'll need to go online (wirelessly) to get the weather report before I dress for the day.

There is no TV, and my radio receives mostly static.

I enjoy my coffee and cream while reading a magazine article about the six myths of Georgia O'Keeffe.

My Humble Adobe
Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 10:12:04 AM

Humble Abode (exterior)I'm staying in a one room, two bed with shower--exactly what I need.

There is just enough simplicity in this space that I don't feel bored.

I had a great breakfast conversation with my B&B hosts: an open-face quesadilla [discernible ingredients--tortilla, jack cheese, chili powder, salsa, scrambled egg].

We got to know each other without delving into pedigree topics.

Reclusion
Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 10:15:42 AM

Humble Abode (Reclusion 1)As stated in a previous email, there is a drought; hence there is the need to conserve water.

Even though I've stayed in major hotels that encourage their patrons to be conscious about water usage (reuse towels, don't leave the spigot running unnecessarily, etc.), I'm finding that I feel more at ease within the confines of this B&B.

Perhaps, because I am here to cutback on activity. Whereas with business-related travel, one has to remain mindful that there are many activities with an objective to be met that is of equal priority.

Humble Abode (Reclusion 2) Being stuck in a hotel all day, retreating with all the amenities as a perk, only to be granted fifteen minute breaks to relieve one's self, is not the same as reclusion in a sparsely supplied B&B with the ability to sit as long as one wishes.

What a relief!

Horsies
Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 10:10:48 AM

I've gained the sense that the B&B owners like horsies.

In the welcome packet, I was asked to not feed the horsie--not even honey!!!
