Arrival: Starting View
Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 5:41:42 PM

I just finished lunch/dinner. I'm a few miles outside of Albuquerque. The views are fantastic!

Am I There Yet?
Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 6:01:50 PM

I'm on HWY 84 at a stoplight in town.
I'm about to get on the "highway" proper.
Am I there yet?!

Scenery
Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 6:20:24 PM

The scenery has yet to become a typical backdrop.
I have to keep both eyes on the road, and both hands on the steering wheel.

Taos?!
Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 6:39:08 PM

By now, you should know that I am heading towards Abiquiú, NM.
However, the road sign says that I'm headed towards Taos.
I have to make a pit stop and ask for directions.

Sightseer
Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 6:51:18 PM

Always the sightseer.

The drive is supposed to take two hours. I've stopped at the grocery store to get some late-night snacks, toiletries, and water.

AND I've pulled up along the side of the road to take pictures. [BTW--I forgot my larger camera, books, and flashlight.]

I saw this view and had to turn around.

Oh, Cow Markers!!!
Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 7:16:23 PM

There are signs along the highway indicating cow-crossing. However, what I'm supposed to be looking for are mile markers. The mile markers will let me know that the B&B is near. I've located the cows, but the vacancy in the pasture is full!!!

ARRIVAL: Cow Markers

The sun is setting and my night vision is not good. Did that road sign say Abiquiú?  In the opposite direction? The convenience store is closed?! But the time is only 7:24pm!

ARRIVAL: Dusk

Cellphone signal out of range. I do have plenty of gas in the car. Let's turn around and drive--and pay attention to the mile markers!!!. I've got a phone signal, but the cell battery is running low. I should be able to contact the B&B.

"Hello. Yes, I'm about three mile markers away? I'll look for your blinking hazard lights on the side of the road. Thanks for your help."

I unpacked, phoned home, took a water-drout shower, listened to some tunes while snacking on some chips-n-salsa, avocado and plum tomato--drinking merlot and mineral water.

ARRIVAL: Salsa

There isn't enough light to take pictures of my "cottage." I will do so later.
