CULINARY MUSING 032: December 16, 2006 [listen]

Family Fix

A worthy trouble, season preparation tabled for loved-ones--the obligation to reinforce lifestyle, choice support--mannered beyond the outcome of income treasure.

This (food) stuff--the problem of passing the burden of keeping opinion that reaches across the sharing, the hoarding.

Brutal responsibilities to abandon or cherish--parentage, household commonality, distributed community amongst relative truisms--as deemed from the scrolls to "When I was your age," time encapsulations.

A how-to befitting the have-to--filial ownership plattered at the center of the table and/or plated along the edges as served.

A jewel, family is--a guild, a (re)lax tyranny not to be gelded, but fixed.

Poem [listen] Foodstuff

Familie Fixe

Flagged outright,
A choice style
Serving helpings to
Stay placed, matted.

Woven together--
For better or for worse--
Marital bliss, plus one to many.

The atmosphere
Sets time to
Sit still to
View paradise
As a diner
As a consideration
As a small price to
Pay for relational abundance.
