Visceral Victuals

Eating is an activity that can rouse primordial remembrance--sense without definition.

Visceral Victuals

For the mere mortal, the presence of delicious morsels
Makes the eyes go blinky blink-blink,
Which makes the nose go sniffy sniff-sniff,
Which makes the ears go wigglely wig-wig,
Which makes the tongue go waggy wag-wag,
Which makes the hands go: clappy clap-clap,
Which makes the feet go tappy tap-tap,
Which makes the heart go thumpy thump-thump,
Which makes the blood go gushy gush-gush,
Which makes the stomach go butterfly-fly,
Which, in summary, is the result of the glands
          going secretey secrete-secrete,
The result of the nerves going tingly ting-ting,
Making the entire body go quiver quiv-quiv.

All of which is to say that
     In the end, visceral victuals
     Make the mouth say,
     "Yummy yum-yum."
